Strategy of Intellectual Property Management: Building a Business on Your Ideas

On March 14 the STCU held the seminar for scientists entitled "Strategy of Intellectual Property Management: Building Business on Your Ideas". The seminar was designed in the framework of the STCU training programs assisting scientists in their sustainability efforts.

64 project managers and patent specialists from all over Ukraine participated in this event. 47 R&D organizations were represented.

The seminar featured both tutorial and practical lectures, presentations and case studies. Patent attorneys described patenting process, its milestones and possible problems on the way of obtaining the patents. The representative of the State Enterprise Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property (Ukrpatent) also attended the seminar and provided the participants with the information on special legislation of Ukraine in the field of intellectual property.

The STCU specialists presented to the attendees the Commercialization and Patent Support Program. Scientiststs who successfully commercialized their technologies shared that experience with their peers.

The knowledge and skills received at the seminar by the project managers of STCU projects will be implemented in building patenting strategy, writing Ukrainian and international patent applications, searching of potential partners and other activity focused on building the scientists' ability to be successful and self-sustainability.
